Abstract. Sudrajat DJ, Yulianti, Danu, Rustam E, Suwandhi I. 2019. Genetic diversity in the growth of white jabon (Neolamarckia cadamba) provenance-progeny test: Comparing study in the nursery and field. Biodiversitas 20: 1325-1332. Results of the provenance-progeny test in seedling and field test of white jabon (Neolamarckia cadamba) at Parung Panjang, Bogor District, West Java Province, Indonesia are reported and discussed. Twelve provenances representing 105 families were tested in nursery and field using randomized complete block design. Seedling height, root collar diameter, sturdiness quotient, shoot dry weight, root dry weight and shoot-root ratio was measured at four months, while as the growth assessment was carried out on survival, height and stem diameter at the age of 2 and 4 years. The result showed that genetic variation was found to be higher among families within provenances than the variation among provenances for all parameters indicating the family effect had the highest contribution on the growth and survival. Based on family and provenance mean, most of the seedling parameters were significantly correlated with the others, but most of seedling parameters were not significantly correlated with plant growth at 2 and 4 years. The longitudinal cline was significantly correlated with shoot dry weight, root dry weight, and shoot-root ratio indicated that the white jabon seeding parameters in natural populations may have greater in humid (higher precipitation) than in drier locations. This was likely to suggest that the family or provenance selections based on seedling growth in the nursery may not be very effective because heritability of most growth variables is likely to be low.

The Gunung Sibela Educational Forest is part of the nature reserve located on Bacan Island, North Maluku. Flora research in this location is still very limited, therefore this research was carried out as database support for area management. The purpose of this study was to describe the composition and diversity of flora in the Gunung Sibela Educational Forest. Data collection was carried out in block 332 by making 25 plots measuring 20 m × 20 m each. We recorded the number of individuals of each species, also height and diameter specifically for trees in each growth phase. There were 40 plant species from 25 families, dominated by Neolamarckia macrophylla in tree phase (71.95%), Celtis sp. in poles (41.87%) and saplings (22.55%), and Aglaia sp. in seedlings (33.02%). The diversity index was on moderate categories on trees (2.93), poles (2.93) and seedling (2.47), and high on saplings (3.05). The richness index was high on trees, poles, saplings (6.58, 5.18, 6.05 respectively), and moderate on seedlings (3.61). While the evenness index shows the number of individuals for trees, poles, saplings and seedlings tend to be evenly distributed (0.82, 0.93, 0.89, 0.89 respectively). Overall of this study is the composition of the vegetation in Gunung Sibela Educational Forest contains 40 species of plants and the diversity of species is classified as moderate, and evenness and species richness are classified as high. This indicates that the condition of the vegetation in the research location of the Gunung Sibela Educational Forest is in good condition.

Jabon putih (Neolamarckia cadamba) merupakan jenis potensial cepat tumbuh yang mempunyai sebaran tumbuh yang luas, diduga berhubungan dengan keragaman genetik yang luas. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji keragaman morfologi bibit dan keragaman genetik jabon putih berdasarkan penanda molekular AFLP. Rancangan acak blok dengan 4 ulangan digunakan untuk mengkaji keragaman morfologi bibit pada 31 famili dari 4 populasi (Kapuas, Kampar, Nusa Kambangan, Pomalaa) berdasarkan karakter tinggi, diameter, indek kekokohan, jumlah daun, panjang dan lebar daun jabon putih di persemaian. Analisis AFLP Analysis System I Kit dengan menggunakan sampel daun kering setiap famili digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Karakteristik morfologi bibit jabon putih mempunyai keragaman antar populasi dan famili di dalam populasi Keragaman genetik dalam populasi berdasarkan morfologi bibit memiliki kemiripan dengan hasil analisis AFLP yang menunjukkan populasi Kampar memiliki keragaman yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan 3 populasi lainnya. Keragaman genetik tertinggi ditunjukkan pada populasi Kapuas yang diikuti oleh populasi Pomalaa dan Nusa Kambangan. Keragaman antar populasi berdasarkan tingkat differensiasi baik berdasarkan morfologi bibit maupun analisis AFLP menunjukkan nilai yang cukup tinggi. Analisis klaster dan analisis kekerabatan berdasarkan metode UPGMA menunjukkan pola yang mirip dan menempatkan sebagian besar famili dari Kapuas dalam satu klaster yang terpisah dari famili-famili populasi lainnya. Berdasarkan analisis kedekatan genetik tersebut, 26 famili dapat dipertimbangkan sebagai famili-famili potensial untuk pembangunan populasi pemuliaan. Penelitian ini mempunyai implikasi penting untuk pengelolaan sumber daya genetik dan program pemuliaan jabon putih ke depan. The aim of the research was to assess the morphological and genetic variation of jabon putih seedling based on AFLP markers.
