Abstract: Ghrelin is a 28‐amino acid peptide produced by epithelial cells in the stomach mucosa and is well‐characterized to modulate gastrointestinal function, growth hormone secretion, glucose regulation, and appetite, and is increasingly implicated in substance use disorder (SUD) phenotypes.
