Standard and modified electrode engineering-scale in situ vitrification tests

Abstract: This report describes engineering-scale in situ vitrification(ISV) electrode tests conductedby Pacific NorthwestLaboratory(PNL) for the U.S. Departmentof Energy (DOE). (a) The purposeof these tests was to establish baseline data to serve as a foundationon which to improvethe design of standard rd graphite rod electrodes, which are currentlyused in all applications. Changes in electrodedesign are proposed as one method to increase ISV melt. depths that typicallyreach about 5 m.
