“…It has already been shown that comfortably loud levels are significantly correlated with the threshold of the electrically evoked stapedius reflex (ESR) (Bresnihan, Norman, Scott, & Viani, 2001;Shallop & Ash, 1995) and that the ESR can be measured by using acoustic immittance (Shallop, 1993;Stephan, Welzl-Muller, & Stiglbrunner, 1988), by electromyography (Almqvist, Harris, & Shallop, 2000;Clement, Carter, & Kipke, 2002), or by visual inspection of the stapedius muscle during implant surgery (Almqvist et al, 2000;Lindstrom & Bredberg, 1997).
