Staphylococcal and Streptococcal Superantigens: Basic Biology of Conserved Protein Toxins

Abstract: Pore-forming toxins (PFTs) represent the largest known group of bacterial protein toxins to date. Membrane insertion and subsequent pore-formation occurs after initial binding to cell-surface receptor and oligomerization.
