Abstract:It is shown that the phase-shift analysis of elastic-scattering data leads to a set of illposed, non-linear, stochastic equations. An algorithm is presented and tested which allows to find a solution, irrespective of the quality of the data. It makes use of a-priori information and determines the minimal amount of such information necessary to achieve a unique fit. The significance of the solution and its associated errors are discussed.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
