Statistical study of “trunk-like” heavy ion structures in the inner magnetosphere

Abstract

A statistical study of "trunk-like" heavy ion structures observed by the Helium Oxygen Proton Electron (HOPE) instrument is performed.q "Trunk-like" heavy ion structures are preferentially located at L = 1.5−4.0 and magnetic local time (MLT) = 18−24.qThe trunk structures occur more frequently during relatively quiet periods.
