Statistics Analysis Measures Painting of Cooling Tower

Abstract: This study refers to the cooling tower of Megalopolis (construction 1975) and protection from corrosive environment. The maintenance of the cooling tower took place in 2008. The cooling tower was badly damaged from corrosion of reinforcement. The parabolic cooling towers (factory of electrical power) are a typical example of construction, which has a special aggressive environment. The protection of cooling towers is usually achieved through organic coatings. Because of the different environmental impacts on t… Show more

“…The inner surface of the tower wall is attacked chemically by low-concentration acid vapor because residues of SO x and NO x remain in the cleaned flue gas [2,3]. The conventional approach for addressing this potential corrosion risk is to apply acid-resistant coatings on the inner surface of cooling towers [8,9]. However, the effective service lives of polymer coatings, which require continuous repainting to meet service life requirements, are usually short because of aging effects [10,11].…”

“…(4) Many organic compounds have been evaluated to explore their possible inhibitor corrosion use. All these researches reveal that these compounds, especially those with N, S and O, show a significant inhibition efficiency (5,6). Caffeine has already been proven as a corrosion inhibitor for copper alloys by several researchers giving good results (7)(8)(9)(10).…”
