Abstract:We analyze vertically stratified three-dimensional oceanic flows under the assumption of constant vorticity. More precisely, these flows are governed by the f-plane approximation for the divergence-free incompressible Euler equations at arbitrary off-equatorial latitudes. A discontinuous stratification gives rise to a freely moving impermeable interface, which separates the two fluid layers of different constant densities; the fluid domain is bounded by a flat ocean bed and a free surface. It turns out that th… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
