Streptomyces cahuitamycinicus sp. nov., isolated from desert soil and reclassification of Streptomyces galilaeus as a later heterotypic synonym of Streptomyces bobili

Abstract: The GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession number for the 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain 13K301 T is MG770843. The Whole Genome Shotgun project has been deposited at DDBJ/ENA/GenBank under the accession POUC00000000. The version described in this paper is version POUC00000000.1. One supplementary figure and three supplementary tables are available with the online version of this article.

“…Meanwhile, ATCC 15439 could be classified as a distinct species from other S. venezuelae species according to the ANIm analysis, and its genome encodes many strain-specific smBGCs. Several reclassifications of Streptomyces have been reported for species-level using a whole-genome comparison approach [ 58 , 59 ].…”

“…Gram-staining was tested as described by Magee et al [42]. Cultural characteristics of strain HC44 T were observed following growth on Czapek's agar [43], nutrient agar [44], modified Bennett's agar [45], tryptic soy agar (Difco) and ISP 2-7 agar [34] (4,10,20,28,37,45,50 and 55 °C), NaCl (w/v) concentrations (0-10 % NaCl at intervals of 1.0 %) and pH values (from pH 4.0 to 12.0 at intervals of 1.0 pH unit). KH 2 PO 4 -HCl, KH 2 PO 4 -K 2 HPO 4 and K 2 HPO 4 -NaOH buffer systems were used to maintain the pH values of the media.…”

“…Members of the genus are known to produce biologically active compounds, such as antibiotics, enzymes and anticancer metabolites [5]. In recent years, numerous studies on the subject of reclassifications and emendations of the members of the genus based on multilocus sequence analysis (MLSA) and whole genome analysis have been carried out and, as a result, there has been serious decrease in the number of species [6][7][8][9][10]. At the time of writing, the genus comprises 664 species with a validly published and correct name (https:// lpsn.…”

“…Members of the genus Streptomyces are widely described among Actinobacteria as antibiotic producers [7]. Therefore, many studies have aimed to reveal the isolation, identification and characterization of members of the genus Streptomyces [8–14].…”
