“…Finally, the cell proliferation was reduced for all the samples on a similar level, as there was only a slight difference in the urea cumulative release between the samples ( Figure 3 A). This phenomenon can be considered as a drawback for tissue engineering; however, the direct biocompatibility of PVB has already been verified with fibroblasts (NIH 3T3) and keratinocytes (HaCaT) [ 7 , 34 ]. Thus, in this study, the decreased cell proliferation is strictly correlated with the urea presence, as the number of keratinocytes started to be reduced, when the urea reached the maximum concentration ( Figure 3 A).…”

“…Electrospun fibers were applied as a patch for skin hydration improvement [ 6 ]. They were loaded with evening primrose, borage or blackcurrant seed oil and used as reservoirs, which slowly released the oil and moisturized the skin [ 7 , 8 , 9 ]. Moreover, electrospun fibers are widely used as drug delivery system with controlled release [ 10 ].…”

“…Moreover, PVB patches loaded with evening primrose oil showed a similar behavior. The release of the oil absorbed in the electrospun fibers depends on the fiber diameter (Krysiak et al, 2022).…”

“…Polyvinyl butyral (PVB) is widely used as photovoltaic encapsulation materials, safety glass interlayers, coatings, and adhesives because of its excellent mechanical strength, high optical transparency, and strong adhesion properties. In recent years, PVB has been considered as one of the attractive materials for the preparation of polymeric nanocomposites for wastewater treatment due to its flexible molecular chains, low glass-transition temperature ( T g ), good biocompatibility, and hydroxyl hydrophilicity. The properties of PVB depend largely on its synthesis process, which is mainly the acetal reaction of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and butyraldehyde (BA) under acidic conditions . Due to the fast acetal reaction, the product molecules are more difficult to be well dispersed in a short time, which easily leads to product agglomeration and uneven acetalization.…”
