Stripping System for Bulk Fuel Storage Tanks

Abstract: The Navy's bulk fuel storage system uses settling and stripping to eliminate waste water which reduces tank volume and waste fuel. A semi‐automatic stripping system was developed to recover the lost tank volume while maintaining clean fuel for issue. The stripping system removes contaminants by recirculating the fuel through a bank of filter/separators until issue limits of 0.01% water and sediment are reached.
