Structural and Optical Properties of Zinc Doped CdS Thin Films Prepared at Bath Temperature 80ºC by Chemical Bath Deposition Technique

Abstract: In this paper, different aspects and facts concerned with the synthesis of thin films of lead chalcogenides along with its opto-electro-structural properties is presented. The polycrystalline thin films were put onto chemically clean and optically plane glass substrates by chemical bath deposition technique from aqueous solutions of Cadmium chloride, Zinc acetate, thiourea, triethanolamine and ammonia. X-ray diffraction analysis has been used for the structural characterization. It indicates that the crystalli… Show more

“…CdS, which is chemically stable, is employed in solar cells along with absorbers like Cu (In Ga) Se w1x and CdTe w2x. The maximum efficiencies of 1yxx 2 cell obtained till date are 16.5% w3x (CdTeyCdS) and 21.5% w4x and 18.8% w5x (CIGSyCdS), with and without concentration respectively. Almost all such elements are semiconductors, which find application in photoelectric and other types of appliances.…”

“…Finally, the article concludes with the effect of time period over the properties of CdS films, which is one of the significant steps in structuring CdS and other semiconductors employed in photovoltaic systems. [15][16][17] CBD process is gaining importance because it is simple and cost effective, which can also result in homogeneous, translucent, and stoichiometric CdS thin films. CBD method, also termed as solution growth or restricted precipitation, yields thin inorganic semiconductor films from cations, anions and sulphide and selenide ions.…”
