Structural characterization of Lanzhou lily (Lilium davidii var. unicolor) polysaccharides and determination of their associated antioxidant activity

Abstract: BACKGROUD: The Lanzhou lily (Lilium davidii var. unicolor) is the only Lilium species that is used for both culinary and medicinal purposes in China. Its bulbs contain various bioactive substances, such as polysaccharides, saponins and colchicine. Lanzhou lily polysaccharides are known to have anti-immunity, anti-tumor and anti-oxidation functions. RESULTS: The present study used a Box-Behnken design to optimize the ultrasound-assisted extraction of Lanzhou lily polysaccharides. Compared to other enzymes, tryp… Show more

“…NMR spectroscopy is an important method used to analyze the structure of polysaccharides. The detailed structural information of polysaccharides could be analyzed by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy Figures and demonstrate the 13 C, 1 H, correlation spectroscopy (COSY), hetero-nuclear single quantum coherence (HSQC), and hetero-nuclear multiple-bond correlation spectroscopy (HMBC) spectra of the LP-W and LPF-W fractions.…”

“…21,34 NMR spectroscopy is an important method used to analyze the structure of polysaccharides. The detailed structural information of polysaccharides could be analyzed by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy 35 In the 1 H NMR spectra of LP-W (Figure 4a), the hydrogen spectrum signal is mainly concentrated between δ3.0 and 5.5 ppm. The δ3.2−4.0 ppm peaks are the sugar ring proton signals, and the group of δ4.3−5.5 ppm peaks is the sugar terminal proton signals, which occur at δ5.…”

“…It is mainly grown in Gansu Province, China and is a very important agricultural plant with high economic value [ 2 , 3 ]. As a traditional medicinal plant and popular edible vegetable bulb, Lanzhou lily also has the function of clearing away heat and removing toxic, nourishing the lungs, anting cancer and enhancing human immunity [ 4 , 5 ].…”

“…LLP-1, LLP-2 and LLP-3 are the three new polysaccharide components in lily, their Mw are estimated to be 2.25 × 10 6 , 2.02 × 10 6 , and 2.08 × 10 6 Da, LLP-1 and LLP-2 are mainly composed of Glc and Man, with the molar ratio of 1:2 and 1:1, respectively, LLP-3 is mainly composed of Ara, Gal, Glc, and Man, with the molar ratio is 2:2:2:1 ( Chen et al, 2014 ; Hou et al, 2016 ). LLP has a variety of activities, such as hypoglycemic, anti-oxidant and anti-cancer effects ( Li et al, 2020b ). LLP can improve the PF alveolar compartment and reduce the infiltratsion of inflammatory cells.…”
