Structural correlations in the enhancement of ferroelectric property of Sr doped BaTiO3

Abstract: The effect of Sr doping in BaTiO 3 (BTO) with nominal compositions Ba 0.80 Sr 0.20 TiO 3 (BSTO) have been explored in its structural, lattice vibration, dielectric, ferroelectric and electrocaloric properties. The temperature dependent dielectric results elucidate the enhancement in dielectric constant and exhibit three frequency independent transitions around 335, 250 and 185 K which are related to different structural transitions. All these transitions occur at lower temperature as compared with pristine BTO… Show more

“…The zoomed view of ε′ at 50 kHz around this transition is shown in the inset of Figure a. The tan(δ) is a very important parameter to understand the dynamics of dipoles and relaxation behavior . The temperature-dependent tan(δ) of CNO at different frequencies presented in Figure b illustrates a clear anomaly at T N .…”

“…The tan(δ) is a very important parameter to understand the dynamics of dipoles and relaxation behavior. 33 The temperature-dependent tan(δ) of CNO at different frequencies presented in Figure 1b illustrates a clear anomaly at T N . These observations are in contrast with most of the earlier reports.…”

“…Our calculations suggests that the A(TO1) and E(TO2) modes are Last type while A(TO2) and E(TO1) are Slater type modes in BaTiO3 supporting our experimental observations. Finally, E(TO3)+B1 Raman mode which occurs at 305 cm -1 has been associated with ferroelectric phase [23,50] . In spite of that, these modes remain present above Tc till a very high temperature (Tc+100K) as shown in fig.…”

“…In recent years, Ba 1-x Sr x TiO 3 (BSTO) films have been employed for the development of various multifunctional devices, such as microwave filters, piezoelectric sensors, access memory, and integrated circuits and microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) [1][2][3][4]. Not surprisingly, all these developments are dependent on a good fundamental understanding of the BSTO; as is known, the tunable competition of local lattice symmetry via the crystal field is extremely influenced by the Sr doping in BaTiO 3 (BTO) [5][6][7]. Conventionally, this investigation interest can be approached on BSTO by chemical ion doping via the solid reaction method, which can offer an accurate doping level [8].…”
