Structural, Optical and Photocatalytic Photodegradation Properties of Zn1−xMnxO Prepared by the Sol-Gel Process

Abstract: Effect of Mn doping on the structural, photoluminescence and photocatalytic photodegradation properties of Zn1−xMnxO have been studied. The Zn1−xMnxO powders and thin films were synthesized by the sol-gel, spin coating and high temperature annealing processes. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), photoluminescence and UV-visible (UV-Vis) spectroscopy. XRD analysis showed that Zn1−xMnxO can keep a single phase of wurtzite structure at low Mn doping. U… Show more

“…Normally, noble metal such as Ag (Ansari et al, 2013b(Ansari et al, , 2014aLi et al, 2006) and Au (Wu and Tseng, 2006) or transition metal such as Fe (Xia et al, 2011, Dhiman et al, 2012 and Pt (Saeed et al, 2015) were used in this approach. Alternatively, photocatalytic efficiency of semiconductor photocatalysts in removal of synthetic dyes could also improve by doping with Cr (Ansari et al, 2012) and Mn (Men et al, 2011). In addition, using of hydrogen peroxide was proven to be able to enhance the photodegradation of organic dye (Saeed et al, 2015;Muneer et al, 2015).…”
