Structural Optimization of the Production Process in Steel Plants Based on Flexsim Simulation

Abstract: The method of structural optimization of the steel manufacturing process is described, and the development logic of layer‐by‐layer progression from the analysis‐optimization of the set of procedures’ functions, the analysis‐optimization of the set of procedures’ relations, to the reconstruction‐optimization of the set of processes’ procedures is explained. Four different simulation models from Kambara Reactor (KR) to continuous casting (CC) are established using Flexsim simulation software. The theory of struc… Show more

“…Intelligent modeling method is mainly based on artificial intelligence or computational intelligence, such as multi-agent system, 11,12) eM-Plant software 13,14) and Flexsim software. 15,16) The use of intelligent modeling method has certain advantages. It breaks through the fixed thinking of conventional modeling method and can get to the core of the problem.…”

“…In order to gain insights into the dynamic behaviour of a complex system, one needs to use simulation modelling [25]. Examples include the flow of people in a railway station [26], ladles travelling through a steel plant [27], or a car frame going through the interior assembly line section in an automobile production plant [28].…”

“…Animated scripts are usually simulated in virtual environments that correspond to a real situations, processes or data flows. FlexSim program provides virtual environment with the ability to simulate any process with as much information as the user needs FlexSim simulations are commonly applied in areas such as manufacturing [1], warehousing [2] distribution of goods and products, materials processing [3], etc. They can also be easily adapted to simulate human resource logistics, e. g. in healthcare [4] or other service areas, due to their flexible and virtual design.…”
