Abstract: <p>The oxidation of most organic matter emitted to the atmosphere proceeds by radical reaction steps, where peroxy radicals, ROO<sup>•</sup>, are critical intermediates formed by addition of O<sub>2</sub> molecules to carbon-based radicals.
