Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the use of different higher‐order polynomial bases for the temporal approximation as well as various higher‐order quadrature rules. The resulting time integration schemes partially differ in their numerical properties, especially in order convergence and energy error. Further, an adaptivity of the time increment to optimize the computational effort is implemented using a time transformation according to SUNDMAN. Using an example with viscoelastic material behavior that models a bu… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
