Structure and Ordering of Mixed Aluminates Y1−xErxAlO3 by NMR, Acoustic, and Heat Pulse Techniques

Abstract: Substitutional ordering of Y1‐xErxAlO3 (0 ≦ × ≦ 0.45) mixed crystals due to the mutual arrangement of ions Y and Er over lattice sites is studied by NMR, ultrasonic, and heat pulse techniques. It is shown that clustering of solid solution occurs in the concentration range x ≦ 0.10, the maximum degree of clustering being near x = 0.07. The number of atoms per cluster is estimated.
