In this study, periodic mesoporous organosilica (PMO)/ZnO nanocomposites were synthesized and investigated as a delivery system for the anticancer drug (gemcitabine). Rice bran extract was used for the green synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles. According to the characteristic results, by increasing the amount of ZnO, the size of the spherical particles increased and surface area and pore volume decreased. Between the two nanocomposites, the maximum gemcitabine loading content (53.1%) is related to the sample with the lowest concentration of ZnO nanoparticles. For all samples, the gemcitabine release at pH=5.6 is greater than pH=7.4. The rate of gemcitabine release was fast in the first 8 hours and decreased over time.
