Abstract:ATP-dependent DNA ligases catalyze phosphodiester bond formation in the conserved three-step chemical reaction of nick sealing. Human DNA ligase I (LIG1) finalizes almost all DNA repair pathways following DNA polymerase-mediated nucleotide insertion.
