This current study aimed at investigating the effect of KWL strategy towards the reading comprehension of second grade students at SMA N 1 Kintamani in online learning. This research was an experimental research with pre-test and post-test control group design. By involving XI IPS 1 as the control group which taught by using conventional method and XI IPS 2 as the experimental group which taught by using KWL strategy in teaching reading. The obtained data were descriptively and inferentially analyzed by using SPSS 23.0. In pre-test, the study found the experimental group (M= 56.28) showed higher mean score of reading comprehension rather than the control group (55.87). The result of t-test also revealed that the mean difference between experimental and control group in pre-test was not significant (α=>0.05). Furthermore, in post-test the experimental group got better reading comprehension achievement than the control group. The result of the study found that the experimental group (M=74.32) got higher mean score of reading comprehension compared to control group (M= 61.16). The result of t-test also confirmed that the mean difference between experimental and control group in post-test was significant (α=<0.05. In conclusion, KWL strategy gave a significant effect on the reading comprehension of second grade students at SMAN 1 Kintamani.

The disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic stimulated the utility of the technological tools for online language learning at the tertiary level in Vietnam. Many universities chose Google digital tools as a technological solution for online instruction. However, there is still a scarcity of studies on university students’ perceptions of using Google tools in the context of online English learning. This study aims to explore university students’ perceptions of the efficacy of using Google tools (namely, Google Classroom, Google Forms, Google Meet, and Google Sites) as a combined technological solution for online English learning in the last phase of the pandemic at a university in northern Vietnam. The research was carried out in the academic year 2021–2022, with 128 non-English majors taking General English courses online. A Likert-scale questionnaire created by Google Forms was distributed to gather feedback from the students, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with eleven students to gain more in-depth data. The results overall demonstrated that the students favorably perceived the applied Google tools as effective tools to support online English learning. It was also found that females had higher perceptions than males regarding the ease of the tools. Furthermore, first-year students agreed more than second-year students on the effectiveness of the tools in increasing engagement in learning.

This study highlights students’ and teachers’ perceptions on using Google Forms as a formative assessment tool in EFL classrooms. The study implemented a mixed methods approach where a questionnaire was administered to students and interviews were carried out with English teachers in public secondary schools in two cities in Saudi Arabia. The questionnaire received 354 responses (32 males and 322 females) while in the structured interviews, 24 female English teachers provided their opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of integrating Google Forms into their classrooms. The purpose of this study is to explore students’ perceptions of online formative assessment via Google Forms in terms of perceived usefulness, perceived risk of cheating, and perceived self-efficacy. It also aims to analyze the positives and challenges faced by EFL teachers while using Google Forms as an online formative assessment tool. The results showed that both students and teachers believe that using Google Forms positively impacts students’ learning despite the risk of cheating and demonstrated several limitations with using Google Forms for teachers and students. However, English language teachers are recommended to engage all students in online formative assessment to monitor their progress over the course and design interventions to reduce cheating in online assessment. The present study helps increase the awareness of the positives and negatives of English online assessment in Saudi Arabia.
