Abstract: Studies of the Induction Phase of the Hydrochlorination of Metallurgical SiliconThe induction phase of hydrochlorination of metallurgical silicon has been investigated with an oscillating microbalance.It could be shown that in addition to the adsorption of HCl on the silicon surface during this phase the diffusion of chlorine in the bulk phase occurred. The duration of the induction phase can be influenced by the temperature and concentration of HCl.
