“…Much attention is still paid to the discovery of new potential producers of the inhibitor. Therefore we have decided to test fungi from our culture collection, with special emphasis on higher fungi, which are known to have different metabolic abilities, especially anti-tumour activity [10] and have a long tradition of successful use in oriental medicine.…”

“…W 1966 roku Gregory opublikował wyniki poszukiwań substancji o działaniu przeciwnowotworowym w owocnikach ponad 200 gatunków grzybów należących do klasy Basidiomycetes. Aktywnych farmakologicznie substancji poszukiwał też w około 7000 pohodowlanych pożywkach płynnych, stosowanych do fermentacji wgłębnej różnych gatunków grzybów [61]. Testy działania przeciwnowotworowego dla izolowanych substancji były przeprowadzone na trzech modelach gryzoni i ujawniły, że wielocukry izolowane z owocników 22 gatunków grzybów i 50 pożywek pohodowlanych wykazują hamujący wpływ na komórki guza, włączając takie rodzaje nowotworów jak mięsak S-180, gruczolak 755 i białaczka L-1210.…”

“…Roland et al [2] first isolated the anticancer factor calvaine from the basidiomycete Calvatia gigantea , which has long been used as a medicinal food. Almost 50 species in 20 generi of mushrooms have been identified as having anticancer activity [3]. The Chaga mushroom ( Inonotus obliquus ) has been used medicinally for treating cancer in several regions of the world [4].…”
