Studies on the Antimicrobial Activity of Ormocarpum Cochinchinense Leaf Extract /PVA‐PVP Blended Polymer

Abstract: Synthetic polymer polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) was utilised as a blend with hydrogel and natural plant leaf extract Ormocarpum cochinchinense (OC). Its biodegradability and biocompatibility, have received more attention with regard to the wound dressing applications. In the present work synthesized bio composite film containing Ormocarpum cochinchinense (OC), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) was characterized using Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy (FT… Show more

“…[18,19] The Leaf of O. cochinchinense is rich in phenols, flavonoids phytosterols, alkaloids, and terpenoids, it may exhibit antidiabetic activity. [16] Similarly, Julfikar et al, 2017, reported extract with high phenol and flavonoid exhibited antioxidant potential in diabetic rats. [20] As far as our current knowledge extends, the potential antidiabetic properties of O. cochinchinense have not been explored or studied.…”

“…Besides, it is a charming solution for tuning the physical and chemical properties of materials for specific end uses 3,4 . Based on the great tunability of physicochemical properties of polymer nanocomposites (PNC) that yield astonishing optical, electrical, and dielectric properties, these PNC found great applications, such as energy storage devices, flexible electronics, 5 optoelectronics, 6 antimicrobial activity, 7 food packing, 8 and eco‐friendly transparent packaging 9 . In particular, the electronics market is now directed toward foldable and wearable electronics in which the polymer and their composites are the main players that fulfill their requirements 10 …”
