“…The n-hexane fraction (73 g) of the methanol extract (184 g) of Vitex rotundifolia fruits (4 kg) was subjected to Sephadex LH-20 and a silica gel column chromatography repeatedly to afford five compounds, 1 (428 mg), 2 (176 mg), 3 (93 mg), 4 (834 mg) and 5 (637 mg). The spectral data of compounds 1-5 were identical to those reported in the literature (Taguchi, 1976;Kondo et al, 1986;Kang et al, 1994;Hirobe et al, 1997), and their structures were identified as rotundifuran, chrysosplenol D, luteolin, vitexicarpine and artemetin, respectively. Luteolin was freshly dissolved in dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) and the final concentration of DMSO did not exceed 0.2%.…”
