Abstract:The silicate glass was prepared using rice husk as the source of silica. The base composition of glass sample was 46SiO2 (from rice husk ash)-19Na2CO3-18H3BO3-13ZnO-3CaO-0.9Al2O3-0.2Sb2O3 mol %. Doping with copper oxide yielded the colored silicate glass. The expansion coefficients of the copper doped glass was 10.76 x 10-6 K-1. The finger prints of the bond vibrations were studied using IR spectroscopy.
