Study of Mechanical Properties on Ferric Oxide Microparticles Reinforced with Polyethylene

Abstract: Polyethylene and ferric oxide microparticles were mixed in this work to generate a new polymer composite. Weight fraction and microparticle size were studied experimentally to discover how they influenced the tensile strength and Young’s modulus. A response surface methodology was employed in the design of the research. The increased weight fraction of reinforcement results in the increase in Young’s modulus and lowers the elongation percentage. As the microparticles expanded in size, so did their effect on th… Show more

“…The addition of nanostructures and L-DOPA into ternary composites allows for obtaining therapeutic temperatures in soaked samples under contactless stimulation with NIR radiation and may have potential application in temperature-controlled regenerative processes as well as cancer therapies. The addition of iron oxide particles to polymers frequently reinforces the mechanical parameters of resulting composites [45]. For all curdlan hydrogel samples tested in this study, the shapes of stress-strain and relaxation curves were similar (Figure 6a,b).…”

“…This may imply the lack of reinforcing effect of Fe3O4 particles on the hydrogel; however, this may result from the small dose of the particles in the samples. “…It can obtain the surface graph of the influence of various factors on the experimental results so that the optimized region in the experimental design can be obtained intuitively. In addition, the related experimental parameters can be comprehensively studied according to less experimental times using RSM [33,34]. The RSM model can be expressed as the following quadratic polynomial function [35,36]:…”
