Study of some anionic surfactants as pour point depressants additives for a waxy gas oil

Abstract: Purpose -To prepare surfactants and use as pour point depressants for a waxy gas oil. Design/methodology/approach -Some anionic surfactants (Calcium O, P.dioctyl benzene sulphonate and calcium hexadecyl benzene sulphonate) were prepared in the laboratory. The physicochemical characteristics were investigated. The adsorption behavior of these surfactants at air/solution and oil/solution interfaces were investigated by measuring the surface tension and interfacial tension as functions of concentration. Findings … Show more

“…They have high solublization capacity for both hydrophilic and lipophlic compounds. Surfactants used are petroleum sulphonates and ethoxylated alcohol sulphates, The degree of interfacial tension lowering depends on the phase behaviour of the oil/water/surfactant mixture (1)(2)(3)(4). Some ester is widely used as lubricants and high performance industrial fluids.…”

“…Many methods have been attempted for the prevention of the crystals mating together. Some anionic surfactants had been applied as pour point depressant by Omar et al [1]. It is found that the surface parameters and free energies of micellization and adsorption confirm the decreasing and improving of pour point.…”

“…The purified sample was chloromethylated in presence of zinc chloride and phase transfere catalyst and purification chloromethylated aromatic and condensed with a stoichiometric amount of triethanol amine according to Omar et al [6][7][8][9][10]. The product was condensed with ethylene oxide to produce the polyaromatic benzyl trie- thanolamonium ethoxylate with 6 ethylene oxide units (BS).…”
