Study of Sperm Morphologic Characteristics in a Group of 833 Fertile Men

Abstract: For the 13 abnormalities under consideration, the mean percentages were found to be the following: irregular head (15.2), microcephalic (9.8), elongated head (5.9), coiled tail (5.8), bent tail (4.7), thin head (4.6), cytoplasmic remains ( 3 2 ) , macrocephalic (1.6), short tail (1 .l), no tail (0.6), duplicate tail (OS), duplicate head (0.4), lysis Studie uber die Merkmale der Spermatozoenrnorphologie bei einer Gruppe von 833 fertilen MannernZusammenfassung: Fur die 13 untersuchten Abnormitaten ergab sich fol… Show more

“…In the study of David et al (1975) the order was: elongated, microcephalic and irregular heads; in that of Schwartz et al (1984) it was: irregular, microcephalic and elongated heads. On the contrary, the distribution of the means of the different types of head anomalies appear to be different in the three studies under consideration; in our study the highest mean values in decreasing order were: thin, microcephalic and irregular heads.…”

“…However, few morphologic studies of spermatozoa of fertile men have been performed till now (MacLeod and Gold -1951;Osser et al -1983;David et al -1975;Schwartz et al -1984) and above all they use different descriptive and classification models.
