“…However, a paper with good strength properties requires refining cycles to promote the bonding ability, to counteract the changes in the fibers which produce their irreversible loss of flexibility (Weise and Paulapuro 1995), and the presence of additives with cationic charges, which influence the retention process of fibers and fillers in paper or paperboard (Hubbe et al 2007).
