Study on the Formation and Properties of Liquid Crystal Emulsion in Cosmetic

Abstract: In this paper, the formation of liquid crystal structure in preparation of emulsion and the change of those liquid crystal structures during storage and usage were studied. Besides, the rheological and moisturizing property of the liquid crystal structure emulsion was investigated as well. The results show that the liquid crystal structure at oil-water interface in the emulsion forms gradually with cooling process after homogenization. The liquid crystal structure doesn't change significantly during the storag… Show more

“…In the present study, the addition of fennel oil show no significant effect on cream structure, all of our formulations displayed a pseudoelastic behavior also known as shear thinning behavior, as the viscosity declined with increasing of shear stress. This behavior is ty pical of many commercial systems since it improves spreading and penetrability of the product on the skin after topical preparations (Zhang and Liu, 2013) (Fig. 2b).…”

“…This network is gradually broken with increasing shear rate, resulting in a reduction of the internal resistance of the system, and ultimately decreasing the viscosity. This rheological parameter indicates that sample H1 can show good spreadability during application in the skin (Alam, Aramaki, 2009;Ribeiro, Morais, Eccleston, 2004;Zhang, Liu, 2013;Isaac et al, 2012). It can be correlated with the spreadability and with how easy formulation flow from package (Niraula et al, 2004).…”
