Stumpfes Augentrauma

Abstract: Blunt ocular traumas include contusions and ruptures of the globe--open and closed globe injuries. Characteristic damage results in anterior and posterior segment trauma. Typical patterns of injuries are combinations of (1) hyphema grade II-IV, iris-lens injury, vitreal bleeding--choroidal rupture and increased risk of rebleeding, (2) angle recession >180 degrees--secondary open-angle glaucoma, and (3) vitreal prolapse and lens dislocation-retinal detachment. Patients with blunt eye trauma should be under stea… Show more

“…Therefore, these ruptures usually occur at the site where the sclera is thinnest (limbus and equator in humans). 8 In our retrospective study, the majority of the traumas responsible for rupture of the globe were car accident or fights with other animals. Even though slightly different from the trauma occurring in humans, pathophysiology of the rupture should be similar to what happens in people.…”

“…Blunt ocular trauma can result in severe complications such as rhaegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD), iris defects, and glaucoma [1, 2]. Besides any cosmetic considerations, iris defects can cause various symptoms such as glare, photophobia, loss of contrast sensitivity, or decreased visual acuity [3, 4].…”
