“…While there are a few available questionnaires available for assessing the EF, the properties of these tools are under debate. In this sense, the DEX, one of the most widespread questionnaires, has shown certain limitations: there is little evidence on the psychometric characteristics in nonclinical populations (Hellebrekers et al, 2017) and those existing do not fully report its validity (Dimitriadou, Michaelides, Bateman, & Constantinidou, 2018), there are discrepancies about its factorial structure (Hellebrekers et al, 2017; Pedrero-Pérez et al, 2011), there is a lack of studies that perform CFA (Yang et al, 2018), it shows poor ability to differentiate between clinical and nonclinical individuals (Szepietowska & Kuzaka, 2018), items show linguistic ambiguity (Szepietowska & Kuzaka, 2019), and it is shaped by the interaction of demographic variables as gender and age (Szepietowska & Kuzaka, 2018). Alternatively, the BDEF has shown optimal psychometric properties, although there is still a lack of research reporting its factorial structures in different cultures and in nonclinical samples.…”

“…Executive complaints (ECs), a type of SSCs, affect the EFs that are top–down mental processes of inhibition and interference control, working memory, cognitive flexibility and correction of behavior based on feedback (Szepietowska & Kuzaka, 2018). Anatomically, the frontal lobes are considered the underlying neurological substrate governing EF, especially the prefrontal cortex (Flores Lázaro & Ostrosky Solís, 2008).…”

“…The results suggest that higher efficiency of cognitive processes may play a protective role in the formation of complaints, but, depending on the type of SCD, the importance of protective will perform another type of cognitive functions. A low sense of executive difficulty is the result of better efficiency of attentional processes (Szepietowska & Kuzaka, 2018), and low sense of memory difficulty -higher efficien-…”

“…According to the authors' assumptions, the respondents should complete the questionnaire on their own. However, assistance of another person or answering the questionnaire by phone is also allowed [26].…”
