Submerged and Impacted Primary Molars

Abstract

Submerged tooth is the one that is depressed below the occlusal plane. Dental ankylosis is thought to be a major cause of submergence. Submerged deciduous teeth have the potential to cause malocclusion not only by prevention of their exfoliation and subsequent replacement by permanent teeth but also by causing tilting of proximal teeth and extrusion of opposing tooth. The purpose of this report is to present three different cases of submerged deciduous teeth and their clinical effects.

Impacted primary mandibular second molar associated with late-formed second premolar: A rare entity of reverse dentition

[ 3 4 ] However, it is very rare to see the development of the underlying permanent tooth germ gets delayed due to impaction of primary tooth. Therefore, the purpose of the present case study was to describe a rare case of a rare entity of reverse dentition caused by impaction of the primary mandibular second molar associated with delayed formation of the second premolar.…”

Manejo de molares decíduos anquilosados com a presença de seus respectivos dentes sucessores

“…Há uma certa concordância nos artigos pesquisados neste trabalho que a possibilidade de um diagnóstico precoce da anquilose favorece manejo e reduz significantemente a possibilidade de danos à oclusão permanente (BERTL et al, 2012;DIAS et al, 2012;GONDIM et al, 2013;KUROL;KOCK, 1985;MESSER;CLINE, 1980;MISHRA et al, 2010;OH et al, 2020). “…A anquilose de molares decíduos pode causar severas consequências clínicas ao desenvolvimento da oclusão, principalmente se diagnosticada tardiamente, como a infraoclusão e comprometimento vertical do osso alveolar; a inclinação dos dentes adjacentes para o espaço do dente anquilosado em infra-oclusão; perda do comprimento do arco dentário; desvio da linha média na direção do dente anquilosado e consequente assimetria dentária; extrusão do dente antagonista ao dente anquilosado; alteração do trajeto de erupção do sucessor ou até a impacção do mesmo (DIAS et al, 2010;DIAS et al, 2012;GONDIM et al, 2013;KUROL, 1984;MESSER;CLINE, 1980;MISHRA et al, 2010) (Figura 1, 2 e 3).
