Abstract:Summary:Posterior submitral recess (PSMR) calcification is a common autopsy finding in elderly people, but its pathogenesis is undetermined. In this communication we show that, in part at least, the PSMR changes at autopsy are atheroma-like with lipid around the sclerosis and calcific deposits.
