“…We believe that our composite measure of community well-being is superior to existing measures of community well-being (e.g., Christakopoulou et al 2001;Whorton and Moore 1984) because our measure is based on an established QOL theory that is well-accepted by the QOL research community, namely bottom-up spillover theory of life satisfaction (Andrews and Withey 1976;Campbell et al 1976). We also believe that our measure is considerably more effective because it is highly diagnostic in relation to life domains that most citizens as well as public policy officials are familiar with-those 14 life domains we have alluded to throughout this paper.…”

These subjective measures can be categorized in terms of two major groups: global and facet-based.…”

“…Examples of inductive-based measures of community well-being include the measures developed by Whorton and Moore (1984) and more recently by Christakopoulou et al (2001). Whorton and Moore (1984) developed a measure of community well-being based on six dimensions.…”

The dimensions were chosen from a larger set of issues related to community by a panel composed of individuals actively engaged in community research and the application of technical assistance to communities in the area of community development, leadership development, and industrialization.…”

In the article statistical relationships between indicators of the socioeconomic situation of Russian regions are investigated. For this purpose the integral indicators constructed according to official statistics and sociological polls were used. For comparison of trajectories of initial indicators the special characteristics reflecting the basic properties of trajectories were entered. Based on these characteristics, three groups of regions were identified using cluster analysis. It was shown that the relationship between the studied indicators differ. Therefore, different models should be used to predict these indicators for each group of regions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
