Abstract:Introduction: In adults, epidemiologic studies consistently show negative health outcomes (e.g. insulin resistance, stroke) related to artificial (or non-nutritive) sweetener (NNS) intake. In children, NNS sweetened beverage consumption is associated with higher total energy and sugar intake.
