Supercritical Fluid Spray Dyeing: A New Method of Dyeing and Simulations of its Flow Field

Abstract: The supercritical fluid flow jetted out from a nozzle was divided into two stages, free jetting and passing through the porous media, in a supercritical spray dyeing process. According to the nature of the flow, the free jetting model and passing through porous media model were established separately. Based on the established models, the characteristics of supercritical fluid flow field in the supercritical fluid spray dyeing process were investigated firstly in this paper. Distributions of the temperature and… Show more

“…. Wang and co‐workers have proposed that it be could adopted for supercritical dyeing and that this would solve some of the problems connected to the high‐pressure operation of the typical process configuration . The core of the process consists of a dye‐dissolving scCO 2 stream jetting from a nozzle through a textile continuously moving along its process route.…”

“…Supercritical CO 2 dyeing is an eco-friendly dyeing technology that uses CO 2 instead of water as a dye carrier [13]. Wang and others [14][15][16] proposed supercritical CO 2 spray dyeing technology, that can realize large-volume continuous dyeing without high-temperature and high-pressure equipment, thus shortening the dyeing time and improving the dyeing efficiency. However, cotton fabric directly sprayed by the sprayer is easily damaged due to the continuous impact of the nozzle.…”
