“…42 Other authors have made the same suggestion. 15,18 In this study, although the width of the subcutaneous pedicle was only 1 cm, no problems regarding flap survival were encountered, except partial necrosis in one patient. This success was likely due to flap prefabrication and delay.…”

“…8,12,23,28,30,[38][39][40] However, there are also many reports in the literature that suggest that superiorly based nasolabial flaps are preferred. [2][3][4][5][6][7][9][10][11]13,15,18,24,26,27,33,36,41,42 Hoping to achieve a more mobile flap, many authors have used subcutaneously based nasolabial flaps. 7,14,16,18,33,[41][42][43][44][45][46] In the case of a subcutaneously based flap, the dermal vascular plexus is disrupted, and the viability of the flap relies solely on the subcutaneous vessels.…”

“…NLF is lifted and rotated to reach the defect [30], [36]. If the distance between the nasolabial region and the recipient site is undermined to reach the flap from the donor to the recipient site by this route, this is called tunnelized NLF and if the NLF is passed over the intervening segment of intact skin, then the term interpolated NLF is used [37], [38]. Reconstructed area should fall inside the rotation radius of NLF.…”

“…T he melolabial interpolation flap (superiorly based nasolabial interpolation flap, nasolabial interpolation flap) is a two-stage flap that is used for closure of large defects of the nasal ala. 1 This flap can provide improved esthetic and functional results for large defects of the nose after tumor excision. One of the challenges of this flap is its tissue bulk when it is transposed onto and sutured into the defect.…”
