“…Other studies reported the adverse effects of exogenous P4 treatment, with an increase in early luteolysis (Batista et al, 2019; O'Hara et al, 2014; Pugliesi et al, 2014). Although the supplemented groups showed lower vascular perfusion, this result was not found in the present study; this difference can be attributed to the type of P4 used, dose, and especially the day of application.…”

“…Although the supplemented groups showed lower vascular perfusion, this result was not found in the present study; this difference can be attributed to the type of P4 used, dose, and especially the day of application. The dose and time of application of long-acting injectable P4 appear decisive in the results obtained after this supplementation, as studies that used higher concentrations of P4 or performed supplementation before day 5 after AI reported a compromise in the functionality of the CL (Batista et al, 2019;O'Hara et al, 2014;Pugliesi et al, 2014). Additionally, studies using lower doses of long-acting P4 or supplemented 5 days after AI did not report changes in early luteolysis (Couto et al, 2019;Pugliesi et al, 2015).…”

“…To determine progesterone concentrations, blood samples were taken on days 3.5 (84 th h), 7, 12, and 18 days after AI (Carter et al 2008;Batista et al 2019). Blood samples from vena coccygea were collected into 10 ml vacuum ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid tubes.…”
