Recent years have seen a huge development in the subject of supply chain risk management. In this increasingly uncertain world, the use of practical and effective tools for decision making and risk mitigation has become more necessary than ever. In this research, mitigation strategies for a tier one multinational company operating in the automotive industry and providing an assembly operation to final customer Renault Tanger and Renault SOMACA were prioritized according to their effectiveness, as well as their implementation costs. Based on research in the literature and the opinions of experts in the field. 44 risks and 55 mitigation strategies were identified. FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) method was used based on the latest AIAG 2019 edition to filter and identify the risks to be prioritized, we used then a multi-objective optimization approach to identify the mitigation strategies that constitute the Pareto front for each of the risks and finally used the EDAS method for the final ranking of the strategies. Our case revealed that strategies like ensuring elaborating a contingency planning and defining the responsibilities, imposing contractual obligations on subcontractors, applying a flexible supply contract were found to be relevant risk mitigation strategies for the company. Managers interested in mitigating risk can deploy this model to prioritize risk mitigation strategies.

The high level of standardization within the automotive industry may support avoiding the occurrence of common and unforeseen risks. There are several risk management methods available, but effective actions need to understand current challenges. Automotive risk management requires a comprehensive measure and evaluation approach. The research aims to map the risk factors of managing the automotive industry for preparing a decision support model through a pilot study. The analysis used a list of risk factors based on the literature and idiographic data collection among 22 experts in 2023. The study used the Q-methodology to create characteristic patterns of opinions. Three factors were separated and entitled based on their expressed opinions Factor 1 "Follow Standards!", Factor 2 "Take Control!" and Factor 3 "Be Flexible!". Factor 1 respects mostly the automotive standards (e.g., IATF, VDA, and FMEA). Factor 2 consists of opinions to support actions that can increase overall control. Factor 3 supports every aspect to increase flexibility. There is consensus among the three factors on the high importance of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and proper supplier selection among the respondents. Relative opinions in the field may contribute to developing company-level risk mitigation strategies and understanding supply chain-level challenges. The study confirms the applicability of Q-methodology to discover opinion groups and, therefore, can be considered a novel contribution to the research field, from a methodological perspective.

This paper investigates risk factors associated with temperature-controlled warehouses with the aim of improving long-run performance of cold chains. A risk mitigation strategy is derived through Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) and a graphical hierarchy is presented to prioritize the impact levels of the risk factors. The paper also critically examines the contextual relationship between individual potential risk factors associated to temperature-controlled warehouses. The findings provide pathways to predict uncertainties that can lead to operational interruptions in temperature-controlled warehouses alongside expert opinions that lead to the development of risk mitigation strategies. Given its integrated approach considering identification, evaluation, analysis, and risk mitigation in temperature-controlled warehouses, we believe this paper helps to enrich both the practice and the literature. With the profound increase of significance in cold chains within the broader domain of supply chain management, this paper provides inspiration to more research in cold chains and temperature-controlled warehouses.
