Surface and Aggregation Properties of Synthesized Cetyl Alcohol Based Bis‐Sulfosuccinate Gemini Surfactants in Aqueous Solution

Abstract: A series of cetyl alcohol based anionic bis‐sulfosuccinate gemini surfactants (BSGSCA1,4; BSGSCA1,6 and BSGSCA1,8) with different spacer lengths was prepared using dibromoalkanes. The surfactant structure was elucidated using elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT‐IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). Surface tension measurements were used to determine the critical micelle concentration (CMC), the surface tension at the CMC (γCMC), surface pressure at the CMC (πCMC) an… Show more

“…Steady-state fluorescence quenching is a reliable technique for the determination of the average aggregation number (N) of surfactant micelles. 37-39 Quencher ( Q ) is added to a solution containing a known amount of surfactant and a small amount of fluorescent probe ( F ); F and Q have a very high selectivity to micelles. N can be calculated based on Eq.…”

“…On the other hand, many fats and oils are used to produce customized products, which are useful for synthesis of environmentally friendly and new compounds [18,19]. Surface active agents are compounds containing hydrophobic and hydrophilic groups, which lead to an increase in solubility, moisturizing, foam, and other surface properties, making them possess many applications from consumer to industrial materials such as toiletries, emulsifiers, cleaning detergents, cosmetic agents, and antistatic [20][21][22][23]. Many surface active agents containing heterocyclic anomalies are extensive biological activity, which can be introduced in important industries [24][25][26][27][28][29][30][31].…”
