Surface inducing high-temperature superconductivity in layered metal carborides Li₂BC₃ and LiBC by metallizing σ electrons

Abstract

With surface symmetry reduction, metallic σ-bonding states and softened phonon modes are strongly coupled to each other, achieving high-temperatures of ∼80 K on Li2BC3 and LiBC surfaces.
