Abstract:Abstract:We investigated the hydrophilicity of fluorinated carbon fibers at room temperature, that is a new method of surface treatment, and found that through this treatment, wettabillity of the surface of car bon fibers increased dramatically without decrease of tensile strength. Observation by scanning electron microscope (SEM) showed the same surface morphology of fluorinated carbon fibers as that of original fiber. On the other hand, of anodic oxidated fibers. In the case of anodic oxidation as the wettabi… Show more
“…As shown in Table 2, covalent and semi-covalent C F bonds were present on the surface of the CMSs. In general, carbon materials form many semicovalent bonds during fluorination at room temperature (Chong et al, 1993).…”

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
