Abstract-In this paper, a tunable multiband LTE antenna is designed for metal-rimmed smartphone applications. The antenna only uses a broken metal ring, which comprises an IFA (Inverted-F antenna) section and a parasitic section, and generates three resonant modes through this layout for the feeding point and shorting point. In addition, loading a matching circuit at the feeding point and a RF switch at shorting point of the IFA is used to switch low frequency to lower frequency. The bandwidth can completely cover 824-960 and 1710-2690 MHz. So the proposed antenna can work at GSM850, 900; DCS1800; PCS1900; WCDMA band 1, 2, 4, 5, 8; TD-SCDMA band 34, 39; CDMA BC0, BC1 and LTE band 1,3,7, 38, 39, 40, 41. Also, the total size of the cellphone is 150 mm × 75 mm × 3.5 mm, which is very suitable for 4G slim smart mobile phone applications.

A W-shaped microstrip antenna using an epoxy-resin-fibre substrate is presented. The proposed antenna consists of a circular slot and two rectangular slots printed on a dielectric resin-fibre substrate and is excited by a 50-W microstrip transmission line. A commercially available, high-frequency structural simulator (HFSS) based on the finite-element method (FEM) was used in this investigation. The nearly omni-directional and bidirectional radiation pattern exhibited average gains of 3.12 dBi and 5.44 dBi for the lower band and upper band, respectively. The effects of epoxy-resin-fiber are discussed through comparisons of different substrate materials. Predlagana antena sestoji iz kro`ne re`e in dveh pravokotnih re`, natiskanih na dielektri~ni podlagi iz smole z vlakni in sta vzbujani s 50 W mikrotrakastim vodnikom. V tej preiskavi je bil uporabljen komercialno razpolo`ljiv visoko frekven~ni strukturni simulator (HFSS), ki temelji na metodi kon~nih elementov (FEM).V spodnjem in zgornjem pasu je vsesmerno sevanje kazalo 3,12 dBi, dvosmerno sevanje pa 5,44 dBi. Vpliv vlaken za oja~anje je bil prikazan s primerjavo razli~nih materialov podlage.

Original scientific paper A microstrip antenna on Duroid 5870 substrate material has been presented for Ku and K-band applications in this paper. The proposed antenna has consisted of circular and rectangular slots printed on Duroid 5870 dielectric substrate material and excited by a 50 Ω microstrip transmission line. High frequency electromagnetic solver HFSS has been taken into account in this study based on the Finite Element Method (FEM). The antenna has generated two separate resonant frequencies to cover Ku and K-band. It has an impedance bandwidth (2:1 VSWR) of 1,11 GHz (16,14 ÷ 15,03 GHz) on the lower band and a bandwidth of 1,15 GHz (20,99 ÷ 19,84 GHz) on the upper band. It has achieved a stable omni-directional radiation pattern in the operating frequency band. The efficiency, current distribution, VSWR, return loss of the proposed antenna have been presented and discussed in detail. Predložena se antena sastoji od kružnih i pravokutnih nizova tiskanih na dielektričnom materijalu podloge Duroid 5870, a pobuđuje ju 50 Ω mikrostrip dalekovod. HFSS elektromagnetski solver visoke frekvencije uzet u obzir u ovoj studiji temelji se na metodi konačnih elemenata (MKE). Antena generira dvije odvojene rezonantne frekvencije za pokrivanje Ku i K-pojasa. Ima područje impedancije (2:1 VSWR) od 1,11 GHz (16,14 ÷ 15,03 GHz) na donjem pojasu i širinu pojasa od 1,15 GHz (20,99 ÷ 19,84 GHz) na gornjem pojasu. Postigla je stabilan kružni dijagram zraćenja u operativnom frekvencijskom pojasu. Predstavljeni su i detaljno raspravljeni učinkovitost, raspodjela struje, VSWR te povratni gubitci predložene antene.
