“…The basis of SPR is the surface plasmon polariton (SPP), which propagates along a planar, nanoscale gold surface in resonance with an incident light source of matching angular frequency. 19,20 High refractive index prisms are typically used to increase the momentum of incident light and fulfill the resonant matching conditions, and must be smooth enough to allow SPP propagation parallel to the surface. Gold films (50 nm) were evaporated onto one face of the 3D printed prisms in the Kretschmann configuration, and their reflectivity images are provided in Figure 2A, with the microchannel flow cell used throughout these experiments clearly defined.…”

“…Surface plasmon resonance, the collective resonant oscillation of electrons at the interface of metal and dielectric in response to excitation light, has been exploited in different sensing applications (CsĂĄki et al, 2018 ; Hinman et al, 2018 ; Lertvachirapaiboon et al, 2018 ). The maximum absorption of energy from incident light will be occurred in a specific wavelength which is strictly dependent to the dielectric properties of interface.…”

“…The results showed that larger incident wavelengths (700 nm) led to small SPR resonance angles. This may have been due to the increased number of surface oxygen and carboxyl groups in carboxyl-MoS 2 (such as XPS O 1s and C 1 S as shown in Supplementary Figure S1), which resulted in a decrease in the refractive index of the film (Hinman et al, 2018). Figure 3C shows theoretical calculation using Fresnel's equations to evaluate the SPR reflectance curve of sensing chip structures and different medium interface parameters.…”
