In the last two decades, evidence has accumulated indicating mostchronic illnesses, including cancer, are caused by a dysregulatedinflammatory response at the molecular level. The discovery oftranscription factors like NF-kB, AP-1, and STAT3, as well as theirgene products like tumour necrosis factor, interleukin-1,interleukin-6, chemokines, cyclooxygenase-2, 5 lipooxygenase,matrix metalloproteases, and vascular endothelial growth factor,adhesion molecules, and others, has provided a molecular basis forthe role of inflammation in cancer. Tobacco, stress, dietary agents,obesity, alcohol, infectious agents, irradiation, and environmentalstimuli all activate these inflammatory pathways, which account forup to 95 percent of all malignancies

The importance of adding quality of life (QL) evaluation in cancer research has been emphasised inrecent years. This document provides a summary of the findings of research on cancer patients' quality of life.According to descriptive research, cancer therapy appears to reduce the quality of various areas of life. Thefindings of research comparing two or more groups of cancer patients are inconsistent. The anticipation thatparticular treatment methods will have a detrimental impact on patients' QL is validated in some research but notin others. Even the premise that cancer patients have lower QL than the general population is unsubstantiated.This research provides reasons for these surprising outcomes. To begin, the definition and operationalizationof the notion QL varies from research to study. QL may relate to an overall evaluation or to the evaluation ofspecific areas of life, as well as to the patient's subjective experience or the appraisal of the situation by others.Second, various methodological issues, particularly those related to reliability, validity, and design, are discussed.Finally, it is proposed that psychological mechanisms may account for the lack of differences between cancerpatients and others, and therefore, theoretically, explain the documented inconsistencies.

Many advancements in understanding regarding stomach cancer have occurred throughout the last decade. Notably, tumourbiology and lymphatic dissemination are now well known, and surgical and medical oncologists' therapy is becoming morestandardised. Helicobacter pylori has been a role in the aetiology of stomach cancer when refrigerators supplanted traditionalmeans of food preservation. Cancers that develop at the oesophagogastric junction might be another example of wealthrelated illness. To better personalise therapy, the Western Hemisphere should learn from the East by creating screeningprogrammes for early identification, meticulous surgical resection, and extensive investigation of tumour dissemination. InEurope and the United States, most patients arrive for treatment with advanced malignancies. Three major randomisedstudies evaluating combination treatment are under underway for these individuals. Cytostatic medicines, particularlyangiogenesis inhibitors, have been unsatisfactory; nevertheless, fundamental research attempts to detect family gastricmalignancies and assess minimally residual illness appear more promising.
