“…Fahr's single case was a man aged 55 who died rather suddenly and whose preceding history remains quite unknown. Erbsl6h and Bochnik (1958), who provide an excellent and beautifully illustrated account of calcifying vasopathy, refer to it as 'symmetrische Pseudokalk und Kalkablagerungen im Gehirn'-that is, symmetrical deposits of pseudocalcium or calcium in the brainor 'sogenannte idiopathische nichtarteriosklerotische intracerebrale Gefassverkalkungen (Fahr)'-that is, so-called idiopathic non-arteriosclerotic intracerebral calcification of blood vessels (Fahr, 1930). They publish a table of conditions with which this pathological state has been associated.…”
